Team Cap beat Thanos to the punch

I want Steve to hear about Thanos heading for Earth (probably from Thor or Dr. Strange) and decide to stop him before he becomes a problem, because the UN isn't going to let anyone intervene until he's already here and killing people.

He collects the rest of the team from in hiding, gaining a few new additions as he does, such as Hope with her new Wasp suit, Dr. Strange and a handful of sorcerers from Kamar Taj, Fury and all the SHIELD agents he can dig out of the woodwork (including Coulson and Strike Team Delta), Vision (who has left the official Avengers and gone into hiding so he can be with Wanda), T'Challa and his army, Bucky and Natasha, and maybe even some ex-HYDRA agents or people like the Vulture who don't really have their hearts set on being evil.

With his new army, he teams up with Thor and his buddies the Guardians, and they lure Thanos to some deserted planet to take him on.

Thanos rather expects them to be a mild irritation at best.

He is in no way prepared for what awaits him.
